YOLANDA: My loved ones, I told them in spurts.
YOLANDA: Despite me explaining what it was, they still didn’t get it. All they heard was the word cancer.
SUPER: Yolanda’s Story
YOLANDA: I found out I had multiple myeloma, then we started treatment.
YOLANDA: After a few years, I became stagnant. My numbers weren’t changing, so we decided that we needed to start KYPROLIS®.

YOLANDA: Seeing that my labs actually were changing by using KYPROLIS® put me in a better way, that we were going in the right direction.
YOLANDA: In my case, I went into complete remission with KYPROLIS®.
YOLANDA: As I’ve gone through this, it helps to be fit and healthy.
YOLANDA: I was thinking about a career change, so while I would be hooked up to infusion, I would study for my fitness certification.
YOLANDA: So that’s my time, kind of just studying hard. And you know, thinking of the future.
YOLANDA: Now that I’m in remission, I’m looking forward to starting my own fitness business. It would be geared to those people who have chronic conditions.
YOLANDA: This seemed like a need for a person who specifically can work with someone like me.
YOLANDA: Multiple myeloma, it changes your world.
YOLANDA: I want people to know you can get through this. It hasn’t been easy, you know, this has been a journey, it still is a journey.
YOLANDA: I just would like to give people hope.

KARL: Well, from an emotional perspective, cancer in general is tough for a lot of people, and it’s tougher for some than others.
SUPER: Karl’s Story
KARL: This is not a simple disease to treat; it’s not a simple disease to deal with.
KATHLEEN: And I told him we’re in this together, and it was very important to take care of each other.
KARL: Well, I’m by nature an optimist. You know, so, for me, I’m always optimistic about how things are going to go.
KARL: I went to see my doctor because I had some severe pain in my right shoulder.
KARL: It was to the point where I could not lift my arm any higher than this, and so did some further tests on that and found out that I had multiple myeloma.
KARL: I started therapy, and then it just failed and all of a sudden my numbers went nuts.
KARL: And this other doc talked about, okay, what are we going to put this guy on now to get him under control?
KARL: And he said, I think right now the drug that’ll be best for you is KYPROLIS®.

KARL: For me, it was a very easy decision to be on KYPROLIS® and to stay on KYPROLIS®.
KARL: I’m always the guy, you know, that I have to know where I am. It’s always important for me to know my status.
KARL: My primary tool as a blood marker is what’s called the M-protein. High or low, I know where I am.
KARL: While I was on KYPROLIS®, my M-protein level stayed at a low level, and being stable with myeloma is exactly where I want to be.
KARL: And Kathleen has always been there for those meetings with the doctor. So there was always really the three of us having the conversation as a team.
KATHLEEN: There were many challenging moments.
KATHLEEN: [LAUGHS] But you have to maintain your sense of each other, be there for each other…
KARL: And if you can manage that kind of relationship, still with the cancer as well, then you’re doing really, really well. And I think we think we’re doing really, really well. [LAUGHS]
